MCPHERSON COUNTY — Two people were injured in an accident just before 1p.m. Wednesday in McPherson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2014 Kenworth semi driven by Gary Alan Hammons, 56, Kansas City, MO., was northbound on Interstate 135. The semi left the roadway and crossed the median into opposing traffic.

A southbound 2008 Cadillac Escalade driven by Antjuan Deshun Ellis Jr., 22, Winnsboro, LA., swerved to avoid being struck by the truck.  The semi struck the left rear corner of the Cadillac.

Hammons was transported to Wesley Medical Center.

Ellis Jr. was transported to the hospital in Newton. He was wearing a seat belt. The KHP did not have seat belt information for Hammons.
