Flu shots for adults and children will be offered by the Saline County Health Department next week.

The health department has announced that the annual flu shot clinic is scheduled for 11 a.m.-6 p.m. October 3 in the 4-H Building in Kenwood Park. Persons participating in the flu clinic are asked to wear short-sleeved tops.

Additionally, unused, outdated medications will be collected for proper disposal.

The following two options for receiving flu shots will be available, according to information from the health department.

Drive-thru for adults ages 19 and older only. Vehicles are asked to enter from the south near the water park entrance (dirt parking area).

Walk-in for ages six months and older inside the 4-H Building. Persons choosing this option are asked to enter the 4-H Building through the west doors.

In case of bad weather, all flu shots will be given inside the 4-H Building.

According to information from the health department, the shots being given will protect from four types of flu. Additionally, high-dose flu shots will be available for persons age 65 and older.

The health department has indicated that persons with the following health plans who take their insurance cards with them to the flu shot clinic may be covered: Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Medicare Part B or Medicare Advantage Plan C; and KanCare/Medicaid (Sunflower, Amerigroup, United Healthcare Community Plan). Persons with other insurance or no insurance will need to pay $38 per person.
