A fire on West Walnut caused an estimated $20,000 in damage but no injuries Monday morning.

Salina Fire investigator Jeff Daily said Monday afternoon that firefighters were dispatched at 8:38 a.m. to a reported fire at 209 W. Walnut. No one was injured in the blaze, which was contained in the basement apartment of the two-story house, he said. Daily noted, however, that there was smoke damage throughout the house.

The cause of the fire was undetermined, he said.
