Joey was born on August 22, 1969, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Richard and Danith (Johnson) Nelson. She attended Lindsborg High School. In 2009, Joey was united in marriage to Jesse E. Hermosillo.
Survivors include: her husband, Jesse Hermosillo of McPherson, KS; father, Richard Nelson (Ruthann) of McPherson, KS; son, Blake Alexander (Ameilea) of McPherson, KS; daughter, Stormy Nelson of Topeka, KS; sister, Monica Durst (Mitch) of Moundridge, KS; brother Darwin Nelson (Lorna) of McPherson, KS; mother-in-law, Maria Ontiveros (Emilio) of McPherson, KS; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Gene Hermosillo of McPherson, KS, Joe Hermosillo of Wichita, KS, Irma Chaput of McPherson, KS, and DiAnn Jones of Kansas City, KS; two grandchildren, Chase Alexander and Serenity Paige Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 21, at Calvary Baptist Church, McPherson with Pastor Dan Cate officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge.
