King celebration activities continue Sunday, Monday

The Salina celebration in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., continues Sunday.

The Citywide Celebration is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 825 E. Beloit. According to information from the celebration planning committee, the program is scheduled to include the following.

  • Welcome by Pastor Martha Murchison
  • St. John’s Military School cadets
  • Presentations from various individuals, churches, and
    Salina/Saline County first responders
  • The Cultural Crawl exhibit (recently at the Salina Art Center)
  • Music provided by the Salina Youth Choir, Sunrise Presbyterian Chancel Choir, and NAACP matriarch, Cora Williams

The celebration week is scheduled to conclude Monday with the MLK youth program at noon Monday in St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, 215 S. Chicago.
