Southeast of Saline is adding a walking path to its playground area. From the Unified School District 306-Southeast of Saline Facebook page:

We plan on adding a walking path to the playground. The loop
around the entire playground will be about .25 mile. This path will
serve many purposes. It will allow kids to walk and run with friends
during recess, even on wet muddy days. It gives teachers easy access to
the center of the playground allowing them to monitor the playground
easier. It will allow us to mount the replacement fence in concrete
making maintenance of the fence easier and less time consuming. The
path also divides the playground into smaller spaces which allows our
safe play surface to change in the middle of the playground. This allows
us to cut down our costs because we can change from wood mulch to
rubber mulch to turf depending on the area’s fall risk. If we are not
able to reach the fundraising goal the walking track will probably be
reduced in size and a curbing would be used under the fence instead.
