Second temblor in a week strikes near Hope

HOPE — For the second time in a week, an earthquake has struck Dickinson County.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey (KGS), a 2.3 magntude quake that was centered about 5.5 miles northeast of Hope struck at 7:40 a.m. Saturday. The temblor was centered slightly more than three miles north of a 2.3 magnitude quake that hit the area Thursday at 2:35 p.m., the KGS reported.

Saturday’s earthquake in Dickinson County followed on the heels of a 2.5 magnitude quake that struck southeast of Salina Friday night.
