Betty Jean Anderson was born on May 22, 1934 to Ralph Harold and Minnie (Rees) Supernaw in Ottawa, Kansas, and she passed away on October 24, 2019, in Belleville, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 2 days.
Betty grew up in Belleville, and graduated from Belleville High School in 1952. She married Donald H. Anderson a year later on August 23, 1953, at the Belleville Methodist Church. To this union of 61 years, four children were born: Kathy, Susan, Steven and Keith.
Following high school, Betty attended college at Kansas State University, then Marymount College, where she graduated with her teaching degree. Later, Betty returned to Kansas State to earn her Master’s degree. Betty’s entire teacher career was spent in the Belleville schools, as an elementary teacher.
Outside of work, Betty was an avid bridge player, and she also belonged to the Red Hat club, PEO, Shakespeare Club, was a member of the Belleville Country Club, a lifelong member of the Belleville Methodist Church, and participated in their bible study group.
Betty was very active, and enjoyed spending time at Lovewell Lake, boating and water skiing. She also enjoyed snow skiing in Colorado, was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying. Betty also enjoyed traveling, both across the United States and internationally; she recently completed a trip to Panama.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, and her brother Harold.
Left to cherish her memories is her family: daughter Kathy Zook of Wamego, and her children, Dr. Aaron (Roxi) Zook, Connor and Parker, of Pratt; Holly (Stephen) Milligan, Zokora and Elise of Lexington, KY; Kelsey (Jason) Lueger, Beckham and Jentry, of Topeka. Daughter Susan (Dr. Rick) Kueker of Concordia, and their children, Dr. Ryan (Jessica) Kueker, Cadence and Regan of Wamego; Julie (Charles) Bowers, Kassidy and Madalyn of Concordia; Dr. Richard (Rachel) Kueker, Avery, Ellesyn and Ledger of Concordia; Dr. Matt (Paige) Kueker of Concordia; Richelle, attorney, (Luke) Malone, Camden and Jennings of Concordia. Son Steven (Kathy) Anderson of Belleville, and their children Bryan (Celia) Anderson, Graceyn and Gavin of Luanda, Angola, Africa, Dr. Kylee (Joe) Levin, Rees, Brek, Kace and Quin of Wichita; Abbey (Tanner) Allen of Mission, KS. Son Keith (Deb) Anderson of Belleville, and their children, Niki (Tyler) Hoefler, Alivia and Kohen of Manhattan; Ashley (Brandon) Pierson, Daxton and Porter of Belleville; Josh Anderson of Wichita.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 1, 2019, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at 1:00 pm, at the First United Methodist Church in Belleville, with Pastor Sang Hak Lee officiating. Burial will follow at the Belleville City Cemetery.
Memorials are requested to the USD 109 Playground Equipment Fund or Belleville Methodist Church or Lovewell State Park, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
