More than $10,000 in cash, two rifles reported stolen in south Salina

Police are investigating the report of a theft of more than $10,000 in cash and two rifles from a south Salina residence.

A 66-year-old Salina man reported to police that sometime between Oct. 20 and Saturday a bag with more than $10,000 in cash and two rifles — a Remington 222 with Burris scope valued at $400 and a Ruger 10/22 Delux valued at $400 — were taken from his home in the 2500 block of Edward Street, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Monday. The man told police that he was saving the money to purchase a bike for his wife, Forrester said.

There are no suspects at this time, Forrester added.
