Fire danger is higher for counties in our area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita.
Very high grassland fire danger is forecast across portions of south-central and southeast Kansas this afternoon, including Marion County. This area is roughly along and east of a line from Hillsboro to Augusta to Winfield.
Additionally, the NWS hazardous weather outlook noted that Ellsworth County, Lincoln County, McPherson County, and Saline County are in the high fire danger range.
Later in the week, we have a chance for more winter precipitation. Light wintry precipitation is forecast to develop in central Kansas late Wednesday evening and spread into southeast Kansas Thursday morning. Little if any accumulation is expected at this point.
