A 21-year-old Salina man was the victim of a vehicle-wrap advertising scam.
According to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester, the man responded to an advertisement he found on the website thepennyhoarder.com for auto-wrap advertising. The man believed he was going to be paid to advertise a business on his vehicle, Forrester said.
The alleged vehicle-wrap advertising company sent the man a check for $3,900, $1,000 of which he was to keep, Forrester said. The remainder was to be used for the installation of the wrap, he added.
The man spent his alleged $1,000 before he was notified by his bank that the $3,900 check was phony, Forrester said.
The incident occurred between Oct. 23-29, he said.
