Arthur L. Weis, 82, Minneapolis, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the Minneapolis Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born to Howard and Mae (Eckels) Weis on March 1, 1937.
He lived his entire life in Ottawa County. Art graduated from Minneapolis High School and was his father’s right-hand man in a farming operation near Minneapolis. Art had diesel fuel and oil running in his veins from an early age and was a mechanic for the local IHC dealership in which he eventually became half owner. When the dealership closed, Art opened his own mechanic shop specializing in equipment sporting that famous RED paint. He also maintained a small farming operation of his own. As many know, Art’s one and only pastime was fishing.
Survivors are his wife, Virginia; his three children, Brian Weis, Tammy Matthews, and Teresa Jones; twin sister, Norma Kisling; sisters, Wilma Fraser and Ella Mae (Don) Hughes; and brother, Ron (Lou) Weis; step-children, LaDonna (Joe) Newton and Rick (Kathy) Vaughn; numerous grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Those who really knew him – cared for him – and he will be missed.
Following his wishes, Art was cremated, and private graveside services were held in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis on Friday, November 8, 2019. He requested no memorials.
