SALINA- Firefighters in Salina worked through the early hours of Saturday on the scene of a fire at a vacant motel. Officials say the fire at the former Flamingo motel was first reported just after 8:30 p.m. The facility is considered a total loss.

 

It is the fourth fire reported at the location. No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

 

 

UPDATE 11:06 PM: The former Flamingo Hotel is a total loss. There was an explosion during the start of the fire that was strong enough to blow out windows. There were no injuries during the fire. Currently, the smoke is traveling over Salina and can be visibly seen over South Salina.

UPDATE 9:39PM: The Salina Post contacted Fire Marshall Roger Williams, there is no additional information at this time. The fire is very large and the fire department is still in the process of putting it out.

 

There is a large fire at 500 E Pacific Ave, the old Flamingo Hotel. No information as to how the fire started or in there are injuries.
