MANHATTAN, Kan. — Head coach Bruce Weber earned his 400th career win on Tuesday night, as Kansas State ran its non-conference home winning streak to 14 games with a 74-55 win over Prairie View A&M in front of 10,865 fans in Bramlage Coliseum.
Weber became the 131st Division I head coach to accomplish 400 career wins, including the 51st active head coach. He is the fourth current Big 12 coach to total 400 wins in career, joining West Virginia’s Bob Huggins, Kansas’ Bill Self and Oklahoma’s Lon Kruger. The 400 wins have come at three different institutions, including Southern Illinois (103, 1999-2003), Illinois (210, 2003-12) and Kansas State (87, 2012-present).
Although sloppy to start, K-State was again impressive on both ends of the court in moving to 8-1 to start a season for the first time since the 2011-12 season. Offensively, the Wildcats connected on 54.3 percent (25-of-46) from the field, including 55 percent (11-of-20) from 3-point range, and had assists on 20 of their 25 made field goals. The team shot 50 percent or better in both halves for the third time this season.

Balanced scoring featured four Wildcats in double figures for the fifth occasion this campaign, as sophomore forward Dean Wade led with a game-high 19 points on 6-of-8 from the field, including a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. He also led or tied for the team lead in three other categories, including 9 rebounds, a career-tying 5 assists and 2 blocks in 29 minutes. Senior D.J. Johnson and sophomore Barry Brown each chipped in 12 points, while sophomore Kamau Stokes added 11 points and 5 assists.
The Panthers were led by UNLV transfer Daquan Cook, who finished with 18 points, 4 assists and 4 steals.
K-State shook off a slow start to finish the first half with a 35-29 lead, using 9 assists on 12 made field goals to shoot 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from the field. The Wildcats sped out to an early second-half lead, using a 25-6 run to push the advantage to a game-high 22 points (60-38) with 10:39 remaining. Quotable
• “It was a nice milestone,” said head coach Bruce Weber on winning his 400th game. “I have been very fortunate and very blessed to be in the game a long time, both as an assistant and as a head coach. I have been a part of lot of great teams. I still remember my first win (at Southern Illinois) and that group helped set the tone at SIU. No one thought we would win any games (at SIU). I remember the first here (at K-State). My family and the players make it a great thing. But, I told them after the game that I am worried more about 401, and then 402. We have to get somewhere around 415, 416, 417 (to get to the NCAA Tournament). That would mean a lot more to me (than 400) and I think we are capable of that.”
