Hashiem Jamil Ford, 33, Salina, Kan., and Patricia Felky, 57, Salina, Kan., are charged with two counts of making false statements to a licensed firearms dealer in order to purchase a firearm. In addition, Ford is charged with one count of unlawful use of a telephone in furtherance of drug trafficking, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. The crimes are alleged to have occurred in December 2011 and January 2012 in Saline County, Kan.
Upon conviction, the crimes carry the following penalties:
- Making false statements to a licensed firearms dealer in order to buy a firearm: A maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.
- Unlawful use of a telephone in furtherance of drug trafficking: A maximum penalty of four years and a fine up to $250,000.
- Unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction: A maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.
