One Injured After Grain Truck Hits Pickup Thursday

A 78-year-old Salina man was injured Thursday morning when the pickup he was driving was struck by a grain truck at the intersection of Kipp Road and Magnolia Road, 7 miles east of Salina.

Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says Jerry Killen was eastbound on Magnolia Road, when his pickup was struck by an empty grain truck driven by 41-year-old Dwight Tarn of rural Gypsum who was going south on Kipp Road.

Kochanowski says Killen ran the stop sign on Magnolia Road about 10:30am. Tarn and his 18-year-old son were not hurt.

Killen was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of injures.

Killen was complaining of chest pains and Sheriff Kochanowski said the injuries could have been from the deployment of the air bag in the pickup.
