The Geary County Sheriff’s Department seized approximately 25 ounces of marijuana, one gram of suspected cocaine and $851 following a traffic stop earlier this week.

The traffic stop occurred at approximately 3 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of East Chestnut Street in Junction City. Sheriff’s officials say a subsequent arrest of the passenger, 25-year-old Ricardo Jimenez, led to the seizure of marijuana belived to be for sale, and miscellaneous currency.

“The deputies had been watching this individual for a few days based upon information they received,” Geary County Undersheriff Tony Wolf said. “They saw the subject out and about amd made a traffic stop.

“During the traffic stop, they located drugs in the car, which led to his arrest.”

Deputies then obtained a search warrant of Jimenez’ residence and an additional amount of marijuana, a small amount of what is believed to be cocaine and miscellaneous items of drug paraphernalia were seized. The 25 ounces of marijuana has a suspected street value of $7,500.

Jimenez was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic drug, felony and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, no Kansas drug tax stamp, Aquisition of drug proceeds and driving with a revoked driver’s license.
