OPINION: The Art of Dirty Politics

By John Fedele

All is fair in love and war and politics. When you combine all three, you get the presidential election of 2012.

Most voters love their country and want a leader who will do right by the United States Of America. Most Politicians love their country and will do, say and promise anything to have the privilege to serve their nation.

The problem with this election is that we have two individuals running for president with two separate agendas. One wants to destroy the country he has been brought up to despise, and the other wants to bring back the glory days of America and restore its leadership role. The war will not be fought conventionally. Like Viet Nam, the rules of engagement state the incumbent can bare false witness, accuse, and condemn, while the GOP candidate cannot. These are tried and true rules which have been used forever.

Adding to the insanity of this procedure is the fact that the incumbent is the first black President in the history of the country, which means any negative remarks by the challenger will obviously be assumed as racist. To this scenario, add the undying love of the main stream media for the incumbent, and one can see why he will be re-elected.

Then there is this. In the 2008 election Obama won only 19 states consisting of 580,000 Sq Miles; 127 million counties with a murder rate of 13.2 per 100,000. The territory mostly consisted of folk living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare. Since 2008 the lot of those who live in those areas, has not improved and they have been joined by thousands of others, mostly due to the polices and programs of this administration. But, here’s the bad news, they do not know it! They have been told it is not the fault of government, it is the fault of the rich. They are told it day after day and month after month and year after year. If you hear a lie often enough it becomes true. If you believe it, it is true.

The dirty politics that will be forthcoming will use the same tactic. The GOP challenger will be portrayed as a greedy rich person who like many others, got that way on the backs of the poor. Repeat it over and over and over, and it becomes true. Sorry to say, with this type of game plan and rules, we will be in for another four years of Obamanomics and eventually become a third world nation. But then, as history has shown us, the average age of a great civilization is about 200 years. We are actually overdue for our demise.
