OPINION: Taking Shopping Carts Outside

Submitted By Sam Pridey

Grocery Cart Etiquette was a funny piece to read and yes it does tell on the human condition.

However, there is a serious side of this. What is done with the shopping carts when they are taken outside?

Most people are very good about bringing the cart back to the store or putting them in the shopping cart corrals that are provided in the parking lots. There is a certain percentage, who are either to lazy or to busy, in their mind, to take the minute to do what the majority of folks do.

For some reason they think it is socially acceptable to leave the carts in an open parking spot where they turn into an obsticule that others have to drive around or let the wind catch it and into someones car it goes or into the ditch for the employees to go out and get.

I guess I am one of the few that will pull into a parking lot, grab the loose carts and return them to the store before I go into shop. I have received many thanks from the store employees for doing this and a question of why others won’t do the same.

Come on people, life doesn’t move that fast. It takes a minute or less to either put the cart in the proper place or take it back to the store.

It’s only common decency.
